For the Baarlo Pact, Maaspoort organised a theatre conference that brought together social urgency, substance and theatre. Nearly 300 professionals from childcare, education and local authorities came together around one central message: child development begins in childcare.
Six Limburg-based community-based childcare organisations had joined forces to make the importance of childcare in children’s development visible and tangible. The aim was clear: not a traditional conference consisting solely of presentations and discussions, but a programme that would truly resonate with participants. Theatre played a key role in this. For whilst figures, policies and plans can sometimes seem distant, a performance can bring a subject to life.
Together, we translated that vision into an afternoon where content, interaction and experience reinforced one another. Guests were welcomed in the foyers, where children and playful elements immediately created a fitting atmosphere. For example, visitors were given Jenga blocks, which they used to build a tower together throughout the afternoon. This was followed by the theatrical conference programme in the Hela Hall, featuring theatre makers, music, lighting and projections. The afternoon concluded with drinks, offering ample opportunity to exchange experiences and ideas.
With a well-thought-out reception, appropriate technical support, visitor guidance and catering, the conference became more than just a meeting focused on content. It became an experience that not only conveyed the message of the Baarlo Pact, but also brought it to life.
