You plan a wedding months in advance. The weather, unfortunately, you cannot. When Pim & Lincy got married at Maaspoort on Friday 26 June, the temperature soared to a staggering 38 degrees. So they had to adapt their plans on the day itself.
The entire wedding took place at Maaspoort, from the reception and dinner to the ceremony and party. This allowed the programme to be adapted to the heat without the day falling apart.
Dinner first, then the wedding
Due to the high temperature, a different order of events was chosen from what had originally been planned. Guests were welcomed from 3.00 pm at the Rooftop Bar, followed by a toast and dinner. The ceremony didn’t take place until later in the evening, when it had become more comfortable outside. Afterwards, the evening guests joined in and the day segued straight into the party.
It was precisely because various indoor and outdoor spaces were available that it was easy to switch between them. Dinner took place indoors at the Rooftop Bar, whilst the covered roof terrace and the area overlooking the River Maas could also be used for other parts of the event.
From ‘I do’ to the dance floor
After the ceremony, the Rooftop Bar was transformed into the party venue. With a DJ, a photo booth and mood lighting, the space took on a completely different atmosphere. As a result, a tropically hot day didn’t disrupt the schedule, but instead became a fine example of just how important flexibility can be on a wedding day.
